McCain Defends Right to Bear Arms

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain still supports the right the bear arms, despite this week's tragedy at Virginia Tech.

"We have to look at what happened here, but it doesn't change my views on the Second Amendment, except to make sure that these kinds of weapons don't fall into the hands of bad people," said McCain.

"McCain supports gun control despite what happened at Virginia Tech..."

Oh yeah? How about "*because* of what happened?"

If there is any lesson to learn from the V.T. tragedy, it is that guns are necessary to the security of a free state, just as the Founders said. After all, the shootings happened in an area of high restrictions on guns. That is precisely why so many were killed; no-one could defend themselves. Not even the teachers could defend the students.

This was a tragic case of "too few guns" once again.
