Hagel Gets Dem. Support

Senator Ben Nelson, a Democrat, hopes to see fellow Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel make a run for the Republican Presidential nomination.

"I hope he runs and I hope that he will get the nomination. I think he could bring some capabilities to the office," said Nelson.

However, Nelson does not think the Hagel will make it all the way to the White House, he went onto say: "If the perception is that he's only an anti-war candidate, I don't see how he wins the nomination of the Republican Party." At the suggestion of a possible independent run for Hagel he said "It just doesn't work in our system yet to have an independent candidate."
