Dobson Ready to Bolt GOP

Christian leader Dr. James Dobson is ready and willing to bolt the GOP and support a third party candidate if the party puts forth a pro choice candidate.

World Net Daily reported that: "Some of the top leaders in Christian pro-family activism – including James Dobson of Focus on the Family – met in Salt Lake City yesterday to plot a strategy if Rudy Giuliani or another supporter of legalized abortion is nominated by the Republican Party as its presidential candidate."

Dobson Opposes Thompson

Fred Thompson has been added to James Dobson's list of Republicans that he doesn't support. In an email to friends that the Associated Press obtained Dobson says: "Not for me, my brothers. Not for me!" referring to the former Tennessee Senator.

Dobson, who is the founder of Focus on the Family, went on to say: "Isn't Thompson the candidate who is opposed to a Constitutional amendment to protect marriage, believes there should be 50 different definitions of marriage in the U.S., favors McCain-Feingold, won't talk at all about what he believes, and can't speak his way out of a paper bag on the campaign trail?"

In responding to the email Sen. Thompson said: "If in fact this e-mail ... reflects his views, so be it. I have a lot of friends who I think are friends of his who have a high regard for me, and I'm very proud of that."

Dobson Opposes McCain

Lou Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, has spoken out against Republican front runner Senator John McCain.

"In a radio interview with KCBI, a Dallas Christian station, Dobson argued that McCain didn't support traditional marriage values and complained that the campaign finance legislation he co-authored hurt Christian broadcasters," Jim Davenport of the Associated Press reports.

Dobson was quoted as saying this on the program, "Speaking as a private individual, I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances."
